BAD DAD? Sister Wives’ Meri Brown’s man Amos Andrews accused of refusing to pay child support for 7 years in nasty 2nd divorce
Amos’ ex also alleged he contributed $0 to child expenses for 12 years following their 2001 divorce
SISTER Wives star Meri Brown’s man has been accused of refusing to pay child support in his nasty second divorce, The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.
Meri, 53, debuted her new boyfriend, Amos Andrews, in her recent birthday post on January 16 following her split from ex Kody Brown.
The couple had been keeping their relationship a secret since October 2023, per the TV personality.
One of Amos’ four ex-wives recently spoke to The U.S. Sun about his alleged “controlling” behavior and “obsession” with reality stars.
Now, in new court documents obtained by The U.S. Sun, more can revealed about Amos’ past and his relationship with his second wife.
Amos, 55, got married to his second wife, Shannon Marie Martin, in Las Vegas on February 18, 1995 (when he was 26 and she was 18).
They welcomed a daughter together, Tiffany Andrews, two years later.
Shannon then filed for divorce in Arizona on August 16, 2000, admitting their marriage was “irretrievably broken and there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation.”
The couple has since been embroiled in a nasty child support battle.
At the time the divorce was finalized, the judge awarded both parties the care, custody and control of their daughter as outlined in the Joint Parenting Plan.Bianca rocks sheer ‘Wet’ top and raunchy accessory on stroll with Kanye
In the beginning, Amos was ordered to pay Shannon $373 per month in child support beginning February 1, 2001, and lasting until Tiffany’s 18th birthday or other applicable legal reasons.
BACK TO COURT
However, during the course of the next 12 years, Amos’ ex-wife claimed he failed to adhere to court orders that a judge signed off on at the time.
In August 2013, Shannon went back to court to file a petition to modify custody/legal decision-making, parenting time and child support.
Shannon alleged: “The father did not make consistent child support payments from the time of divorce in 2001 until his wages were garnished in 2008.
“The 7 years of arrears total approximately $10,000 for which the father currently pays only $125 per month through wage garnishment.”
She continued: “The father has been difficult to reach, and frequently changed phone numbers, mailing addresses and email addresses without informing the mother, sometimes multiple times a year.”
She explained that all of this accounted to her not being able to collect child support and request payment for his share of expenses.
Shannon also alleged in the court docs that he had “refused to contribute to the child’s expenses for daycare, medical/dental/vision, and education,” for the past 12 years, and that she paid for “every extra-curricular school activity, medical appointment, counseling, braces, glasses, contacts, etc.”
Shannon informed the court that in addition to paying for expenses for Tiffany, she also had three other children under the age of 10.
Prior to Shannon’s filing to modify the agreement, Amos had separately filed a modification in June 2013.
He requested payments stop altogether because their daughter was living with him at the time and had been for three months.
He also hinted at money problems since he accused Shannon in an email, per the court docs, that she had “frozen” his accounts.
She responded to his claim: “I can assure you that I had nothing to do with your accounts being closed, frozen or whatever has happened.
“… I am sorry that you are in a bind right now.”
COURT RULING
Amos and Shannon participated in a Parenting Conference in March 2014, in which a full agreement was reached on legal decision-making and parenting time.
In exchange for Amos’ waiver of his current child support claim against her, Shannon was waiving her claim for child support payments (that amounted $10K), his share of uninsured medical expenses and childcare expenses in the amount of $4,497.15.
The court docs, obtained by The U.S. Sun, showed Amos only ended up having to pay Shannon $404.53 in child support arrearages (or payments owed) and $4,092.62 for childcare expenses.
“Each parent will provide for the needs of Tiffany while she is in their care,” the court ruled, while adding that all uninsured medical, dental and other expenses would be equally divided.
In addition, child support was amended to $158 per month – money that Shannon would be paying to Amos.
His adjusted gross income in 2014 was $3,834 per month and hers was $6,501 per month, according to the court docs.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Amos and Shannon for comment.
FOUR MARRIAGES
Prior to dating Meri, Amos was married four times, as confirmed by court documents obtained by The U.S. Sun.
His first marriage was to Tracy Smith Lang. It’s unclear when they got married, but their divorce was finalized in 1994 when the decree was entered.
The couple had two children together: a son named Cody, who is now 36, and a daughter named Kristina, who is now 35.
Amos’ second marriage was to Shannon, as described earlier. Their daughter Tiffany is now 26 years old.
His third marriage was to a woman named Christine Andrews.
Christine and Amos got married in March 2002 in Arizona and his ex filed for divorce in June 2004, stating their marriage was irretrievably broken and there was no reasonable prospect of reconciliation.
Meri’s boyfriend’s fourth marriage was to Jennifer Andrews.
They got married on September 7, 2016, and then she filed for divorce on March 18, 2021 on the grounds of irreconcilable differences.
MERI’S UNDERSTANDING
During Meri’s latest Friday with Friends segment, which Amos made an appearance in, he only admitted to three ex-wives.
While virtually talking with her best friend Jenn Sullivan, Jenn asked, “How many ex-wives do you have?”
Amos quickly responded: “Three.”
Not bothered, Meri said, “I sort of have three ex-wives and an ex-husband. I beat you,” referring to Kody, Robyn, Christine and Janelle.
Although Amos has been included in photos on the Sister Wives star’s social media, it does not seem like he has his own accounts.
He also has not divulged much of his past, except confessing that he filed for bankruptcy once in his life, which was “25 years ago.”
