General Hospital: GH Alum Roger Howarth Off To Another Soap? New Hints

General Hospital: In the world of soap opera, where characters may die and return with surprisingly, one actor is getting ready to join a new daytime drama. The recent exit of Roger Howarth from General Hospital left fans in suspense, wondering where this star would pop up next. As the whispers of his return to the soap opera grow louder, there’s a lot of guessing about which show will be lucky enough to have him. Whether it’s The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, or Days of Our Lives, there are many exciting options for Howarth’s next soap job. Let’s take a look at the different roles and stories he might take on as he makes a comeback to daytime drama.

Roger Howarth Bids Farewell To General Hospital, What’s Next?

When General Hospital wrote off Austin, and said goodbye to Roger Howarth, we weren’t sure about it at first. The soap knows that Roger Howarth, who won an Emmy for his roles in Loving, One Life to Live, and As the World Turns, is an excellent and important actor. They wouldn’t have given him different roles if they didn’t see and appreciate his talent and popularity. But when the actor talked about what happened behind the scenes and expressed his thanks for his more than ten years on the show, we began to understand that he had truly left.

Not permanently, though. It’s almost sure that Howarth will get a new role in another soap sooner than you can expect. “I’m an actor. I love acting,” he said in a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest. “If someone asks me, I’ll go! I’ll hop in the car.” The burning question on everyone’s mind is, which soap will be fortunate enough to snag this fan-favorite first? Since Howarth hasn’t been on Y&R, B&B, and DOOL, there are endless exciting possibilities. Fans wonder he could definitely do well in a recast, just like he did on both As the World Turns and General Hospital.

Where Will Roger Howarth Land?

On B&B, Howarth could step into the shoes of Blake Hayes, the unstable ex-husband of Taylor. The original actor, Peter Brown, sadly passed away in 2016. But there’s lots of potential for more storylines with the character, especially if he came back to Los Angeles saying he’s a changed man. If Taylor fell for it, would her ex-husband Ridge become possessive and defensive, stirring up problems in paradise with his beloved wife, Brooke?

On Y&R, Howarth could shake things up for the Newmans and the Abbotts by bringing back the Prentiss family. This could start with Brooks, who is the son of B&B star John McCook’s characters Lance and Leslie. Brooks hasn’t been on the show since childhood. So he could have become an important and influential person like his dad. Brooks might also make for an interesting romantic interest for Phyllis. After all, we’ve seen the chemistry between Howarth and Michelle Stafford in their General Hospital roles as Franco and Nina.

On DOOL, Howarth could— and, we strongly believe, should—take on a completely new character. Let the actor, who’s excellent at bringing characters to life, create someone entirely new. Maybe place them in Salem, and see what happens in the dating scene. Let the character have some fun with the fact that everyone in town seems to be endlessly breaking up and making up with their exes. Have the character decide to avoid the Nicoles and Sarahs, giving a shot at luck on a matchmaking app, and ending up paired with Kristen!

And you know, just because Howarth is finished playing Austin on General Hospital doesn’t mean he’s finished with General Hospital. Sadly, the streaming version of One Life to Live is no longer around. But he could still make a return as Todd Manning in Port Charles. The character from Llanview have electrifying chemistry with Carly. And not just that but his on-again/off-again soulmate Blair now has connections to Port Charles through her ex-husband Martin.
