GH’s Jaw-Dropping Paternity Twist! DNA Test: “Spencer’s Heartbreak: Ace’s Real Father Revealed!

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) may have taken a major secret to her grave. Without DNA evidence, fans still don’t have confirmation that Ace Cassadine (Jay and Joey Clay) is Nikolas Cassadine’s (Adam Huss) biological son.

It seems significant that GH writers chose to avoid a simple paternity test that could’ve put this issue to rest a long time ago.

Let’s compare Esme’s situation to Nelle Benson’s (Chloe Lanier) old storyline for a moment.

Back when Nelle revealed she was pregnant with Michael Corinthos’ (Chad Duell) child, he demanded a DNA test right off the bat.

Fans immediately got proof that the baby who would turn out to be Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) belonged to Michael.

Esme was just as much of a schemer as Nelle was, so why didn’t the writers give fans that same DNA proof as reassurance?

It almost feels like they wanted to leave the door open for a huge story shift later on.

It’s possible that if a DNA test was done, it would simply confirm Esme’s claims about Nikolas being the father.

However, the point is that without proof one way or the other, viewers will always have to wonder!

Of course, things have changed now that Esme’s presumed deceased and Nikolas Cassadine (Adam Huss) is behind bars.

Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) are set to legally adopt Ace, so the show seems poised to sweep any remaining paternity questions that fans might have under the rug.

This is perhaps becoming a buried secret that still needs to be revealed, but that could turn out to be a good thing.

Since the show isn’t resolving this paternity issue now, Ace may grow up thinking he’s a Cassadine – only to find out he isn’t as a teen or young adult somewhere down the line.

Soaps don’t hold onto massive revelations for years as much as they used to, but this might be an opportunity for them to take that old-school approach and give Ace a story at some point in the future.

In other words, there’s really no reason for Ace to get a paternity change right this minute, so this could be a storyline that the writers keep in their back pocket for when they actually need it!
