The Brown family is yet to build on the land, and as of yet, owes money on the land. Together, the family owned 14 acres, with Kody explaining in one episode of “Sister Wives” that the size of each parcel does not matter because they were estimated to be at the same value.

Apart from property taxes, Kody still owes money on the land, and he has a limited time to pay up on the bill or risk losing it.

At the moment, it’s easy to see that Kody is not financially stable, but if he keeps defaulting his payment, he will have failed the terms of his mortgage and forfeit the land.

In a recent episode, Kody showed his unwillingness to include his ex Meri, who he married first, in the land division.
