‘Sister Wives’: Janelle Once Crumbled Under The Wrath Of Meri Brown – Tyrant-Like Wife?
Sister Wives star Janelle Brown, who many find the most stable and sensible, out of the four wives once had a horrific problem with Meri Brown. While the veteran Sister Wives viewers might remember how Janelle and Meri referred to a time years ago when they couldn’t even ride in the same car together.
Sister Wives: Janelle Brown Pushed Over Edge By Meri Brown
Janelle Brown is the second wife to join the Sister Wives family. But despite being invited into this marriage, she felt she could do nothing right in Meri’s eyes. Meri Brown is Kody Brown’s first wife. At the time Janelle spiritually married Kody, Meri was the only legal wife as well.
Janelle was married to Meri’s brother. And… Kody Brown’s father ended up marrying Janelle’s mother. So Kody, Meri, and Janelle were well acquainted when Kody married this second wife, making them a trio in this Sister Wives plural marriage.
Janelle and Kody Brown had been married eight years when Janelle threw in the towel. By this time she had five of her six kids. So, she packed up and left. Meri admitted years later that she wasn’t very welcoming to this new wife. Plus, Janelle had Kody Brown’s first child.
This was a big deal. Meri Brown is the first wife and for Janelle to give Kody his first child, this caused jealousy. Again, Meri admits this a few years down the line. It seems life with Meri was unbearable for Janelle. The second wife from the Sister Wives tribe describes it like this: “Meri and I went from cordial to frosty overnight.”
Nothing Good Enough for Matriarch’s Standards
Nothing this new Sister Wives co-wife did was up to Meri’s standards, according to Janelle. From folding Kody Brown’s clothes to putting away the dishes, the original Sister Wives matriarch made these things a battle because she didn’t do it correctly in Meri’s eyes.
Apparently Janelle Brown and her co-wife got into one big battle that pushed Kody’s second wife over the edge. She packed up the kids and went to her mother’s house. So he lived with her mom for a while.
Janelle’s career awarded her a sizeable paycheck that she contributed to Kody Brown’s combined family. But once she was on her own, that money was hers and no longer Sister Wives property. So, the mom of five at the time purchased her own house with money from her salary. For over two years Janelle Brown was a single mother and away from the plural marriage.
Sister Wives: Kody Brown Tells Meri She Has Relationships to Fix
Back then this second wife had serious thoughts of divorcing Kody Brown. But it was her mother who talked her into going back into the Sister Wives clan. And… she did.
But Janelle Brown admitted that Kody Brown didn’t love her and she didn’t love Kody. Not in the romantic way people usually do when they date and decide to marry.
Jump ahead to this the season that just ended. This is when Kody tells Meri Brown she has relationships to fix. After Kody Brown’s second wife described Meri sounding a bit like a tyrant to live with, maybe others felt the same way about her within the family. While people do change, they don’t always change completely.
Janelle opened up about her struggle with Meri in the book “Becoming Sister Wives.” This book offers some old stories and events within the family of Sister Wives even before they hit the TLC screen.
