Sister Wives is back with its 18th season, but fans are not happy with what they saw. Kody Brown watched one of his marriages come to an end last season and this season two of his remaining three wives will leave as well. However, by the end of the premiere, fans were made because of what they didn’t see. Here is what has fans of the TLC reality TV series mad.
Sister Wives fans disgusted with Season 18 premiere
After the Sister Wives Season 18 premiere ended, fans went to Reddit to complain about what they just saw. After waiting months to see more of the Brown family disintegrating, what they received was just a repeat of last season’s final episodes. There was nothing new in this episode at all. The OP of a thread wrote that “This is LITERALLY the same confessional interview looks from last season.” They finished by writing that TLC didn’t “even try.”
The fans in the comments all agreed with this assessment. One commenter said that the premiere was supposed to bring the drama, but this was more like a reunion show. Another complained that it was like watching a rerun of an episode from last season. One said nothing was new and they ended up tuning out halfway through the episode.
There was another fan who complained that there were only 41 minutes of the show in the hour, and six minutes of those were recaps from last season. To be fair, all one-hour shows check in at about 42 to 45 minutes, so the length of the episode after commercials was completely normal. However, when almost none of the new material was new, it made it seem worse for the fans.
Did anything new happen in Sister Wives premiere?
While it seemed that most of the Sister Wives premiere was clips from last year, it was a way to catch fans up. However, there were new things that arrived in this episode. The episode started with clips from last season and Kody Brown continuing to play the victim, where he compared the family breakup to a civil war.
Christine left Kody last season and both Robyn Brown and Meri Brown kept rehashing what happened to the family. Robyn kept acting oblivious to the problems, showing she was the only clueless member of the family. As for Christine, she had a new home in Utah and seemed very happy to be there. She even laughed in Kody’s face when he talked about his COVID battle, which was at least humorous.
The episode also showed Janelle preparing to leave, as Kody said he felt it was over with. Finally, Meri seemed alienated from everyone, and her end is coming soon as well. For Sister Wives fans, they just wanted more of the drama to move forward in the premiere and didn’t get it.
