GH Spoilers: Is Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) Being Forced into Ferncliff for Retirement?

‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers haven’t been shy about the problems with the show’s writing, and while there’s been a change we have a few weeks to go until the changes appear on our screens, and a lot can happen in that time.

Since the new writers took over three months ago, with one of them having worked on the show for years as a script writer and show historian, it looked like a breath of fresh air.

Instead, we got widespread rewriting of the show and characters’ histories and personalities.

It seemed like the new writers were intent on breaking Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) for daring to leave Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) for Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).

The methodology of everyone betraying and turning on him was cruel and in many cases lazy writing, and then the show’s history changed from day to day.

Maybe Sonny off his meds isn’t so crazy after all?

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Payback

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers have a hunch that at one point the writers were trying to placate Carly fans by sacrificing the show. At least, given the writers’ decisions that seemed to be the cast.

We got a soft reboot where things changed drastically as Sonny was left standing all but alone, and now they took his daughter away from him despite her seeing worse as a mod princess.

But history changed on a whim to fit the current story, so it’s whatever the writers deem it to be.

Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) went to the police and told Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) everything about his time working for Sonny, but now he and the writers have forgotten that.

Now, he acts like he wants to be accepted by Sonny and that he didn’t betray him and we’re supposed to think it’s because of Sonny’s meds. The list goes on and on, and we’re wondering if this is Maurice’s retirement saga?

‘General Hospital’ Spoilers – Sending Sonny away

Maurice Benard has said he feels close to wanting to retire, and given how his current storyline is almost a mockery at the handling the issues of a bi-polar disorder storyline, there’s a chance Sonny will go to Ferncliff.

We thought before that maybe he’d hand over his business to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and retire, but since Jason acted like he couldn’t trust Sonny from the beginning and did his best to appear as a traitor, so that idea went out the window.

Or did it?

With the way this current storyline is going where it appears everyone betraying Sonny is a manic state type of dream, they could have him become so far gone through his actions he’ll be locked away in the mental hospital.

We hope this isn’t the case since Sonny and Maurice deserve far better than that, but the way Sonny’s been vilified and destroyed, it’s hard not to imagine this hasn’t been considered.

The good news is now that there’s a partial shift in the head writer ranks again, some stability should return to the show, but that also depends on how much damage the current crop will do in the coming weeks.
