Dex is making the drastic career move to convince Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), and to be honest, himself, that he is better than he has behaved in the past. Dex almost killed on Sonny’s orders and it was this revelation that caused Joss to dump him.
But weirdly enough, Joss is not pleased that Dex wants to get on the straight and narrow path. As she wisely points out, Sonny could have Dex eliminated for being a turncoat. And last week Sonny intimated just that when he found out about Dex’s new career.

But Dex is also facing another dangerous foe and that is the job of being a cop in Port Charles, New York. Sadly, many characters have lost their lives while protecting and serving the good residents of Port Chuck.
Beloved Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) lost his life while an officer. More recently Rory Cabrera (Michael Blake Kruse) met his end as a PCPD officer.
A cop’s job is dangerous but that is especially true on GH. Is it inevitable that Dex will be the next to have his name on the police officer’s memorial? We hope not!

Sonny could have off’d Dex in the Pine Barrens, so perhaps his safety is not in danger after all? Not necessarily. In the April 17 episode, Detective Bennett (Kendrick Cross) told Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) that he isn’t sure about Dex’s suitability for the PCPD.
He said “when there’s a guy with a gun holed up somewhere, the cops who have something to atone for are the ones who run in too soon, too fast. A lot of times they don’t come out.”
