Did TLC favor Kody and Robyn Brown’s ‘racist’ church? Speculation sparks as anti-LGBTQ preaching surfaces

FLAGSTAFF ARIZONA: TLC slammed for endorsing ‘racist’ preaching on national TV in ‘Sister Wives’. Kody Brown and Robyn Brown adhere to AUB (Apostolic United Brethren) rules, linked to a church promoting racism and anti-LGBTQ views. Without A Crystal Ball uploaded a video where a person from AUB is referring to Canaanites who are claimed to be “people of color who they believe are cursed and agents of Satan.” Referring to the Canaanites, the person in the video claims “they screw up the society.”

He then talks about how some companies purposely have “90% of their employees as homosexual.” The person in the video is then seen mocking people who come out of their closet. Without A Crystal Ball alleges, “Kody and Robyn Brown’s ‘church’ that they constantly point to on the show as the authority of their lives and marriages. The church teaches racism and anti-LGBT rhetoric to the youth in an August 2022 event on wicked music.”

In response to the video, a commenter expressed, “TLC made a reality show about a cult, making it seem like a different lifestyle. Similar to the Duggars, where all the women are victims of abuse.” Another replied, stating, “It’s a white supremacist cult that traffics women and children.” Another shocked individual exclaimed, “Wow! Although I’m not shocked! TLC also aired the Duggars, and we all know how that show ended!” A different commenter expressed their distress, stating, “I am literally nauseous and sick to my stomach after listening to this. This is one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever heard.”

Did ‘Sister Wives’ star Christine Brown leave AUB?

After divorcing Kody, Christine Brown was revealed to no longer be a member of AUB. In the reunion episode, she clarified, “I haven’t been a member of that church for a long time. I left a long time ago.” According to Cheatsheet, Christine explained ththe divorce process in AUB, saying, “We can leave a marriage in our church. If it’s a marriage like mine and Kody had, where it’s just a spiritual marriage, then they release you spiritually. And you go through them.”

What is ‘Sister Wives’ Brown family’s faith?

The Brown family adheres to the belief in polygamy and identifies with the Apostolic United Brethren (AUB), which is a group of Fundamentalist churches associated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS) or the Mormon religion. AUB is considered a more liberal branch within the fundamentalist movement and reportedly has approximately 10,000 members, primarily located in areas around Arizona, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Mexico.

As of the latest information available, Kody Brown, along with his wife Robyn Brown, remains a member of AUB. Janelle and Meri Brown are also reported to have not left AUB following the divorce.
