GH Spoilers: Dex the Hypocrite Denied Pity Party – GH Fans Blast Character Over Dad Cheating Sob Story
General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) opened up to Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) in the December 11 episode and reflected on what life was like growing up. Dex confessed that Christmastime was hard since things got extra tense between his parents.
That confession offered a little more info on Dex’s father, who he complained about.
Dex insisted that his dad was a real SOB who cheated on his mom all the time – and he came to resent his mom for staying with the guy.
Unlike Dex’s brothers, he didn’t worship his dad, who was arrogant and the type of man who’d win at any cost.
Josslyn loved Dex even more for confiding in her – and we certainly liked having the chance to learn more about Dex’s backstory.
However, it’s an odd choice to make Dex so against cheating considering his own history on the show.
Josslyn was technically the one who cheated on Cameron Webber (William Lipton), but it takes two to tango!
If Dex hadn’t been a willing participant, then Josslyn couldn’t have betrayed her boyfriend at the time.
Someone who’s so against cheating should’ve shut things down and pushed Josslyn to end things with Cam before anything happened between them.
Instead, Josslyn didn’t break up with Cameron until after she’d fallen for Dex and slept with him.
Dex didn’t seem to care all that much when that storyline was going on. There were even times when Dex acted smug over growing closer to Josslyn behind Cam’s back!
Of course, the truth is that GH writers simply hadn’t invented all of Dex’s backstory yet.
This revelation about Dex’s cheating father is likely something they just made up to fit with a new storyline.
If Mr. Brennan (Charles Mesure) turns out to be Dex’s dad, then we can connect the dots.
Mr. Brennan has certainly been hitting on Carly Spencer (Laura Wright), so that could line up with Dex’s story about his father always flirting with other women and causing fights with his mom.
Mr. Brennan also fits the rest of Dex’s dad description since he’s indeed arrogant and will do whatever it takes to win.
Regardless, Dex still deserves to get dragged for his cheating stance since this is what the writers chose for him.
It doesn’t make sense for Dex to be so outraged by cheating when he was a key player in a cheating storyline.
On social media, fans have been ripping Dex to shreds over this sob story. It rings hollow when you consider what Cam went through and how Dex willingly contributed to that pain.
