General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Kelly Monaco recently celebrated her 20th anniversary in the role of Sam McCall on GH. Monaco opened up about her two decades on the show in an interview with SOD, which naturally included some comments about Sam’s love life.
You can’t talk about Sam’s history without talking about Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) since they were such a big part of each other’s stories over the years.
Monaco reflected on the onscreen chemistry she had with Burton and the unconditional love that was present between their characters.
Although Sam has had other romances – including her current one with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) – Monaco insisted that Jason and Sam’s romance stands out for her as the one that would always come back around.
“I’ve had multiple relationships on the show, but ultimately, in my mind, Sam and Jason were always the end game,” Monaco insisted.
Monaco went on to talk about all the challenges that Sam and Jason faced over the years, but she felt like nothing could really come between them permanently.
It was always just a matter of time before Jason and Sam’s love would win out over the obstacles, so their story was special.
“Sam will never love anyone the way she loved Jason and I don’t think Jason will ever love anyone the way he loved Sam,” Monaco said. “Jason was the love of her life.”
Of course, there was never any hard evidence to back up Jason’s presumed demise – and even if there had been, it wouldn’t really matter! Anyone can be resurrected on a soap, so that’s important to remember.
Although Steve Burton can currently be seen as Harris Michaels on Days of Our Lives, there’s certainly a chance that he’ll strike a new deal with GH and head back to Port Charles eventually.
If that day comes, then it seems likely Sam and Jason will reunite – especially since Kelly Monaco herself called them end game!
That’s good news for “JaSam” fans who are keeping hope alive, so stay tuned for updates on whether they might still have a future together.
