General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that GH needs Steve Burton’s (Jason Morgan) return more than ever. This is Jason and Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) prime romance opportunity since her marriage to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is imploding.
If Jason hadn’t been presumed dead on Cassadine Island, the story would’ve gone in a different direction.
Carly will lean on Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) and others in the aftermath of Sonny’s betrayal with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), but it won’t be the same.
Jason would’ve stepped up to comfort Carly if he were still alive.
The show would’ve had the ideal chance to bring Carly and Jason together – capitalizing on their connection before Sonny returned from Nixon Falls.
Turnabout is fair play, so Carly might’ve slept with Jason following Sonny and Nina’s own hookup.
After all, it was disappointing when Sonny simply strolled in and found Carly standing next to Jason upon his initial return home.
GH missed out on a major shot at drama since Carly just as easily could’ve been hitting the sheets with Jason.
It was Jason and Carly’s wedding night, so it would’ve been perfectly reasonable.
The show bypassed that opportunity for soapiness, but they came through on The Haunted Star later.
Whether you love the twist or hate it, there’s no denying it was a classic soapy moment!
Carly caught Sonny in bed with Nina, so where does the story go from here?
General Hospital spoilers say Carly will schedule a meeting and presumably consider divorce as a serious option.
The sight of Sonny and Nina in bed together is something Carly will have a hard time getting past.
Carly’s going to ponder her future and try to nail down what she really wants it to look like, especially since Sonny just can’t seem to get over Nina.
It’s a bummer that Jason isn’t around to become Carly’s love interest again and further complicate the situation.
However, the writers could still take that romantic path at some point.
If Steve Burton changes his mind about complying with the show’s vaccine mandate and works out a new deal, Jason’s return could be a game-changer.
Even if the show ultimately recasts Jason, there’d be the potential for some great material.
Of course, many fans will keep rooting for Steve Burton’s return as Jason Morgan.
If Burton ever reprises his role, there could still be hope for “Jarly” – and Sonny wouldn’t like that one bit!
