Avery Pohl As Sydney DiMera Recast – Fans Root for General Hospital Star’s New Soap Gig?
Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that many soap fans had mixed feelings over a recent exit on General Hospital. Esme Prince (Avery Pohl) got a dramatic departure when she tumbled off a ship with Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and was ultimately presumed deceased.
Of course, a lot of GH viewers aren’t buying the idea that Esme is gone for good since she’s had similar exits in the past and survived.
However, we know Pohl has wrapped filming for now and got a lovely sendoff behind the scenes.
Although it’s possible Pohl could reprise her role as Esme someday, plenty of fans are rooting for her to get a brand-new soap gig and thrive in a long-term role elsewhere.
That brings us to the mixed feelings we mentioned when it comes to Pohl’s GH departure.
Esme was a devious character who did horrible things, so it was satisfying to see her face some consequences and get written out.
At the same time, it was hard to say goodbye to Avery Pohl! During Pohl’s run in Port Charles, she proved she was an incredible actress – especially when it came to playing the ultimate schemer.
That’s why we think Pohl would be a great fit for the role of an aged-up Sydney DiMera.
Since Sydney is the daughter of EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), scheming is in her blood!
It’s easy to imagine Pohl playing Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) and Allie Horton’s (Lindsay Arnold) conniving sibling, so maybe Days should think about snatching her up and letting her make her debut as a Sydney DiMera recast.
Sydney could make a huge splash by coming home to Salem, where she could perhaps become the town’s newest troublemaker.
It’d be fun to see Sydney shake things up and possibly express interest in joining the DiMera family business.
Days could hire Pohl as a new character instead, but it’s always nice when the show can build on established relationships and just bring back recast versions of DOOL characters who already exist.
There’s already been a big social media push from fans eager to see Avery Pohl shine as Sydney or in another soap role, so let’s hope Days takes advantage of this opportunity to score a fantastic cast addition.
