If a soap like General Hospital has taught us something important, it is that nothing lasts forever. Er, except for the soap, of course. Because 60 years in, and it is showing no sign of budging! Honest to Soap Gods, we hope that never changes. But then, you know, for it not to change – a lot has had to change over the years on GH. Um, we are deviating- sorry. Back to the point, Maurice Benard recently took to Instagram to announce that “It is ruined forever.”
Thankfully, he is not talking about General Hospital! But a baby orangutan that has often accompanied to the sets of GH! For those who are staring at their screens in bewilderment, let us explain. About three years ago, bang in the middle of the pandemic, Maurice’s daughter gifted him a rather unique Christmas present. A baby orangutan – a stuffed toy. The soap star fondly named it Venasa. He even brought it with him to the sets to introduce it to the cast.
Some fans will remember the funny video where Maurice told his General Hospital co-stars that she might bite. Obviously, she didn’t- because she is a toy! Er, was. And that brings us to the sad news. Maurice has once again taken to Instagram to announce that his bulldog – Vito, bit off Vanesa’s face, and she has been maimed forever. Thus, she won’t be making camera appearances anymore.
The General Hospital star uploaded a video on his Instagram account reciting the ordeal that the toy orangutan went through at the hands eh-teeth of the bulldog. “U will never see baby orangutan again. Unfortunately, an unfortunate accident has happened,” he captioned the video. At this point, we would like to add that Vito did look borderline guilty in the video. Or so we thought. Thus, we are not sure if we want to be mad at the little doggo. For all we know, the orangutan had been petrifying him!
“I’m going to have to put my baby orangutan away,” Maurice announced in the video, declaring that Vito ruined it. Well, it is definitely sad that Vanesa’s three-year run has come to an end. But like we said, all things must end sometime. But maybe Maurice’s daughter can gift him another stuffed animal, right? Since he clearly loves them so much! But at least Sonny has a busy few days in Port Charles, so that should serve well to keep Maurice’s mind away from the mishap!
