‘Sister Wives’ How The Brown Family Scammed & Lied For Years

In Season 18, fans watch as the Brown family of TLC’s Sister Wives continues to fracture further and further apart. Between Kody Brown losing three of his four wives and most of his children becoming adults, some of the skeletons are starting to fall out of the Brown family’s closet.

Turns out, this reality TV family was rather candid about some of their lies and scams a few seasons ago. During a Tell-All that the network has since scrubbed from existence, Kody and his wives shared some of the sketchy practices a plural family often engages in.

What exactly were these sketchy practices? Keep reading for the details.

Sister Wives: How The Brown Family Scammed & Lied For Years

As explained by Christine Brown during a Tell-All, there is a very specific way that plural families handle bringing children into the world. For starters, they do not list the father on the birth certificate. Instead, these women bring their babies into the world classifying themselves as “single mothers.”

As fans of Sister Wives know, polygamy isn’t exactly legal in many places within the United States. So, not listing Kody as a father was claimed to be a way to protect the children from the system that was against their family.

This, however, was not the whole truth. In fact, there was a sketchy reason for this omission. It made it easier for Kody Brown and his wives to game the system.

Welfare & Food Stamp Fraud?

Not having Kody Brown listed as the father and not having him listed as a resident of the house made it possible to apply for financial assistance. And, things such as food stamps. If Kody Brown had been listed, it would have made getting food stamps and other financial assistance much more difficult for his wives.

Many Sister Wives fans argue that omitting Kody Brown as the father and keeping him off of any documentation as living in any of the households is fraud. And, fans think Kody and his wives should have never qualified for food stamps or any type of financial assistance.

As fans know, the Brown family had a stockpile of groceries and products “in case of emergency.” When Christine Brown left the family, she told Kody she didn’t want anything from the stockpile. Now, some fans can’t help but wonder if defrauding the government for food stamps and financial assistance is what made it so easy for the family to create that stockpile.

Do you think the Tell-All got scrubbed because of what the family admitted to? Is omitting Kody Brown as the father committing fraud?
