Not even the rainy weather could dampen the enthusiasm of the thousands of hopefuls who showed up for ‘The X Factor’ auditions over the weekend.
The first auditions for Simon Cowell’s new show took place on Sunday in Los Angeles, and the Daily Mail reports that an estimated 18,000+ hopefuls turned out to the L.A. Memorial Sports Arena.
It is reported that freeways were jammed around the arena and hundreds of contestants even camped overnight in order to get a good spot.
A show insider is quoted saying, “The scenes down here are crazy. There are around 18,000 people here and the numbers are growing by the second. There’s gridlock on the freeways into the venue, its absolute chaos. These auditions are going to be going on well into the night — there are a lot of people to get through.”
