It was great to see you guys and girls chime in on with how you’d cast Jaws and The Godfather, so for this entry in The Remake Game, we’re going to go with a primo double-feature of 1984’s The Terminator and 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day (to level with you, it’s also because there just aren’t enough characters in the first one alone to get this going). So let’s act like T3 and Salvation never happened, and decide who we — and “they” — might cast in the world’s next big unwanted reboot.
With the Hollywood version, we’d be staring down character banners for:
- Channing Tatum as time-traveling cyborg Terminator, The (a minor victory over Taylor Lautner)
- Chris Pine as time-traveling savior Kyle Reese (in between Star Trek sequels)
- Sandra Bullock as very important mama Sarah Connor (picking up the usual post-Oscar paycheck)
- Justin Bieber as very whiny kid John Connor (would’ve been Efron six months earlier, LaBeouf six months before that, maybe even Jaden Smith six months from now)
- Cillian Murphy as the relentless killer upgrade T-1000
- Don Cheadle as tech-savvy Miles Dyson (I’m actually cool with this)
- either Ed Helms or Patton Oswalt as perpetually unfortunate shrink Dr. Silberman
