Winning four Grammys out of eight nominations, Taylor Swift might not have won as many trophies as Beyoncé (who won six) on Sunday night, but surprised many by taking home Album of the Year for Fearless.
She told MTV News on Saturday that that particular award was the most special to her. “I think being nominated for Album of the Year is my favorite of all of them,” she said on the red carpet at the Pre-Grammy Gala. “Just the fact that it’s such a huge category and that fact that I wrote all those songs about my life and about boys and love and relationships and lessons, and it’s very personal. So, to have that gold star next to it there forever, I’ll know that was nominated for album of the year. That really means a lot to me.”
Accepting the award on Sunday night, Swift said, “I hope that you know how much this means to me, that we get to take this back to Nashville! Our families are freaking out in their living rooms! My dad and my little brother are losing their minds in our living room right now!”
It was certainly a big night for Swift: not only did she take home four awards, she also performed a duet with Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks. After Swift performed her own “Today Was a Fairytale,” Nicks joined her onstage and together they performed Fleetwood Mac’s classic “Rhiannon,” which then merged into Swift’s “You Belong With Me.”
The 2010 Grammy Awards may be over, but MTV News will have much, much more from the show, including reports on your favorite nominees, party photos, behind-the-scenes video and much more from the big show!
