‘Rookie Blue’ is a bona fide summer hit. ABC and Canadian broadcaster Global television announced today that their jointly produced summer series will return in 2012 for a third season.
According to the release, the show has performed well for ABC after its time slot move to 10PM on Thursdays. The series is the No. 1 show in its time slot among adults 18-49, and has improved 8 percent in total viewers from its rookie season. Season 3 is currently in development, and will shoot in Canada at the end of the summer.
The Toronto-set drama follows the personal and professional lives of newbie cops played by Missy Peregrym, Gregory Smith, Travis Milne, Enuka Okuma and Charlotte Sullivan — kind of like a police-focused ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’
