It’s no secret that the guys and gals on “Jersey Shore” take their grooming quite seriously. And it seems it’s a habit that stems from their days back in high school.

That fact is especially true for Pauly D, who partook in something he calls the “gentleman’s blowout.”

“My hair was always spiked and gelled up, like a gentleman’s blowout, where it was more controlled,” he said on the latest episode of “When I Was 17,” which aired Saturday at 11 a.m. “Always had to be fresh.”

In fact, Pauly was “fresh to death,” and his wardrobe choices were made with equal care. “My closet was color-coordinated, my bed was made every single day, my pants had to have creases in them,” he recalled. “I took a lot of time to get ready before school. The night before, I’d lay out my outfit that I was going to wear. Had to wake up early to take a shower, do my hair.”

While Pauly was busy looking fly at school, JWoww was trying to figure out the fastest way to get out of there.

“Me, at 17, was not the most popular,” she admitted. “It was weird in my high school. I didn’t really fit in any clique. I kind of bounced around. I really didn’t fit in. I wasn’t comfortable there. I was just like, ‘I got to leave early. I got to do what I can to start my life.’ I only had two classes left in my senior year, so I doubled up in 11th grade and left school a year early. High school just wasn’t for me. I just couldn’t wait to get out.”

The Situation, who had fans laughing at his family portraits, was more of a class clown.

“Back when I was 17, I decided to pull a senior prank,” he said. “I was going to do it bigger than the seniors the year before, the year before that and even before their grandpappy.”

The prank, which involved letting mice loose in the school cafeteria at lunchtime, went over just as he planned. “People were screaming,” he laughed. “There was mices everywhere. It was insane. Mayhem!”
