Critics haven’t seen more than a quick clip or trailer for Showtime’s new comedy ‘House of Lies,’ but I’m still excited and optimistic for what the show might be.
See I love a lot of the network’s so-called comedies, but this one — starring Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz, Josh Lawson and Dawn Oliveri — has promise to actually be funny.
Proof: This bare-bones but totally adorable promo of the five management consultants letting loose a bit. Sure, the show’s description calls them “cutthroat” and says they’ll do just about anything for money, but that can be comical, too. And even without showing me a second of footage from the show, seeing Cheadle’s silly side and, of course, Bell’s usual adorableness has gotten me pumped to see more.
We’ll have to wait until closer to the show’s Jan. 8 premiere for actual screeners, but stay tuned. For now, just enjoy …
