‘Hobo with a Shotgun’ Inspires New Trailer Contest for Wannabe Grindhouse Filmmakers

Jason Eisener’s ‘Hobo with a Shotgun’ started as a fake exploitation trailer and became a real film thanks to a contest that was held surrounding the release of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s ultra-violent double feature, ‘Grindhouse.’ Last year’s ‘Machete’ was one of the trailers to move into feature film territory, and ‘Hobo’ will be released later this month. Now, Eisener wants to return the favor to another filmmaker by offering a similar contest.

Grindhouse/exploitation junkies have until 11:59 PM on March 31 to submit their own fake trailer to Eisener’s ‘Hobo’ website. The competition is open worldwide, so bring your game because directorial gods like ‘Piranha’ and ‘Gremlins’ helmer Joe Dante and ‘Turkey Shoot’s’ Brian Trenchard-Smith are going to be judging you and slamming the gavel hard. The winner’s trailer will be featured on the ‘Hobo’ DVD release, and who knows what fame will come. People are making movies about a killer tire, you know?

A trailer contest wouldn’t be complete without a trailer announcing the contest, so check it out below. Hit the contest page for the full details, and get grinding.
