Dr. Mehmet Oz and ‘The Dr. Oz Show’ is moving into ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ time slot and the good doctor was on ‘The View’ (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to talk about what that means to him and his show.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck kicked things off by asking him, “Do you feel pressure moving into that time zone? … What’s your mindset?”

Despite the fact that it’s a mighty time slot to fill, Dr. Oz feels no pressure. Instead, he said he has a responsibility.

“At the end of the day what I’m really doing is carrying on the tradition she’s crafted,” he said. “Historically, there was always a healer or a teacher, someone in the village who connected everybody. They made them feel that they were worthy. That’s what Oprah taught me how to do. I spent eight years at Oprah University,” which is more years than he spent at college and med school.

He’s made the commitment to make her proud. “That’s my intention, my promise.”

Lofty ideals indeed
